Having a Pokemon that integrates itself with technology to give objects AI and special powers has limitless possibilities for forms, even if they're used as player tools outside of battle or are props for worldbuilding purposes such as the stadium drones.
It's only natural that you'd see Rotom everywhere in a technologically advanced setting since its functions are undeniably useful to in-world humans everywhere. Rotom is only bordering shillmon status, but at least it feels earned from a worldbuilding perspective unlike shit like Lucario and Greninja which are just "super epic" that are only there for the sake of being super epic.
On the topic of Rotomdex: It was good on paper, but they made it way too intrusive, handholdy, and annoying.
Overall Rotom is pretty neat, though.
