Why are there so few technology-based Steel types? It seems like such an obvious concept but there's only Magnemite and Klink (and arguably Genesect)

It wasn't as bad in Gen II where Steelix, Scizor, and Skarmory all had glaring double weaknesses and no good (steel) moves.

Sadly, sometimes technology is used as the electric type. Electrode, rotom, charjabug line all could have easily had a steel secondary typing just from their concept alone.

To make a defensive type, since Rock failed.
And why do you zoomers think it was broken when it was introduced? Maybe in gen 4 started to get boosted. Not even Metagross was broken.

Which double weakness do Steelix or Skarmory have? Afaik Steelix is weak to Fire, Water, Ground and Fighting, while Skarm is weak to Electric and Fire only, am I wrong?

Ground was always a better defensive type, less weaknesses and an immunity. Especially since Rock has almost always been a net negative on any mon.

Which is why Rock is pretty much a failed defensive type in gen I. Does not change the fact it was suppose to be defensive. You don't need to move goalposts.
