XY, though BW's was good. I distinctly remember watching a video of a guy with a really thick deep southern accent read off a list of revealed Pokemon and hearing him say the Japanese names in what sounded like an Alabama accent was fucking gold

XY, partially because it was the first global release, but shiny new 3D graphics and Pokemon starting to become cool again with normalfags helped it too. I miss the older pre-release times and fake famitsu scans though, along with guessing what the english names would be.

Also helped that the 3DS wasn't fully cracked open yet so even the people that got the game early weren't able to just leak the entire thing at once, it was really exciting.
