>>43735475>Even Gen 1 has Pokemon that are ancient and completely integrated into societyWhat? Name one. None of them with the exception of the fossils imply any exceptionally long time to connect with history. At most you have Lt. Surge using them in "the war". Which, btw, unless you subscribe to the post apocalyptic theory, is another real world reference, since it's clearly implying the Gulf War. Even Gen 2 which introduced more "ancient" mons still had them fairly recent except the Unown. The legends for example didn't leave their towers until ~100 years before the games, which would be late 1800s-early 1900s.
>Gen 1 makes real world references (completely incidental namedrops that easily got forgottenThere's tons of them. Literally tons of them, and major ones too. Russia, one of the most important Pokemon and plot lines in the games revolves around South fucking America, you can't write that off as "incidental", go fuck yourself.
>but shit like Pokemon society being near ideal with regards to how it integrates with natureThis is straight up not true, Lapras is far from the exception. Farfetch'd is also getting hunted to extinction, there's loads of pollution everywhere with the mons, there's far more gangsters and all running around (not just Rocket)
>and having Pokemon replace almost all animals but maybe not all animals but maybe yes all animalsStraight up not true and never implied.
>>43735570>The world of the literal first two games are functionally no different from Alolalmao no
>"Elm discovered Eggs!" is shit that at no point has a real bearing on the plot and tone of the story and worldYeah, the fact that an aspect of Pokemon biology that in any other society would've been observed centuries ago being discovered very recently isn't that big of a deal and has no bearing on the plot or world even though it's the first fuckign quest and introduces the new mechanic.
