Wrong, there's no issue with a new regional rock line, if anything it's a good thing considering that Geodude was re-used in every region until Unova. Adds variety since the basis of the monsters are obviously rather distinct. The only real similarity is the final stage being a trade evo.
>Sawk/Throh and Hitmons
Again, similar in that they're martial arts fighting pairs but that's it. The hitmons are monsters that are specialized in punching/kicking, while Sawk and Throh are humanoids that specialize in karate and judo. I'm not a fan of their weird Muppet designs, but they aren't the same inspiration at all.

No new fans are being made. Kids aren't the one's playing pokemon, rather the vast majority of players are in the 18-36 age group.

Pandering primarily to a constantly againg fanbase and romanticizing nostalgia will lead to eventual downfall. We are starting to see the cracks now as more fans complain about the noticeable lack in quality/content while gamefreak continues to peddle a mediocre product knowing fully that they can just coast on name value and nostalgia.

But those don't really interfere with the general personality of that gen. More like little notches. Gen 6 straight up gives you a starter that can mega evolve (instead the kalos starters themselves) and gen 7 introduces regional forms from kanto. Gen 8 does the same + gigantamax

Yes, similar roles and typing, but designs that can stand upon themselves. Up until gen 5 we had the machop, woobat and geodude line introduced over and over again, so these new ones are refreshing. Also notr that the bugs have not been utter shit since gen 5.
