keeping the feet, head(ears), pits and crotch covered are important when it comes to keeping warm for the most part; thermal underwear would be well worn in the cold with little exertion, but biking, running and battling would only accumulate sweat in the fabric and on the skin, which would bring me to the idea that it's in fact not arctic conditions, but cold enough to get frost bitten with a fever without the correct preparations
