we do see Galar Pokemon getting completely new evolutions like Obstagoon, but then Normal Linoone is stuck with nothing, so no matter what, Absol won't be able to get out of the rut
it's one reason I don't like the new Galar evolutions, there's like, only two actual split evolutions, and the one I remember being Yamask
