If you actually like the mon, you have to go out of your way to control the EVs tyrogue gains to mold the stats if they aren't exactly the same naturally. 1 point up 1 point down and it's all fucked. And the reward for the dedication is a mon that wasn't even good on debut, and is barely any better now.
