What returning mons do you see making an impact after Isle of Armor releases? Also how strong do you think Urshifu will be? Personally I think rain got a slight upgrade with Kingdra and maybe Golduck coming back.

id like to use Urshifu hoping its not box legend tier stat wise
kingdra will be nice in rain even more now since it learns hurricane and Azumarill will be even better now with high horse power especially since grassy terrain will be much more common now with rillaboom.

I'm a bit terrified of Drum Azumarill now that it has the option to dynamax for extra bulk while still having the option to Aqua Jet like normal. Krookodile, Volcarona and Scizor are going to be nice additions.

Also I haven't heard many VGC players mention this but Politoed gets Ally Switch now, I want rain to be good but that might be cancer

I think Urishifu will be around 570-600 BST like the other sub legendaries. It's signature move being a guaranteed crit is cause for concern though.

The difference is that they evolve from alola forms. Alolan Raichu isn't legal currently because Pikachu only evolves into the kanto form, and Exeggutor might be in the same situation. However I would be surprised if one of the DLCs doesn't add a way to evolve them.

The most dangerous thing Dragapult does is Surf on Coalossal.
It's immune to fake-out and so fast that nothing can kill it first, so Coalossal is basically guaranteed to get the WP and SE boost, and because speed is calculated dynamically now, Coalossal will attack immediately.

Like with anything just pick a synergy or Pokémon that you like. Pick some Pokémon to cover its weakness and PLAY GAMES, this is the most important part of building a team because you actually learn what works and what doesn't. I myself haven't played since march and am getting back into it.

This is what I've been using this season
I wanted to use Grimmsnarl because I hatched a shiny one, and I found Inteleon+Grimmnarl did well versus sun teams and Coalossal, I tried to build the rest of the team around that

Probably a hot take, but the Fighting/Dark one will likely be borderline unviable due to the 4x Fairy weakness. The Water one will depend on whether its actually good under Dynamax and how fast/bulky it is. Fighting types in general have been struggling a lot in this format, Conk is like the only exception.

Is Politoed going to reclaim his throne as THE rain setter in Gen 8? It gets Ally Switch now and plus with Kingdra having access to Max Airstream via Hurricane makes Tailwind on Pelipper less of an advantage.

Protect doesnt block Dynamax secondary effects, so wasting a turn protecting tends to fuck you over more than simply attacking.

Seriously you guys talk about Protect as some sort of meta defining move when most good players can count on one hand the amount of games that were actually decided by attacking a protecting mon lol. It’s a huge momentum sink if you’re not careful about using it.

My pelipper does work without tailwind. His bulk is great this gen. I just hit airstream on blastoise, corviknight cant beat him straight up either and I’ve been seeing a lot of those two in singles
