Did that earlier in the year, found a marked shiny wooloo, then forgot to save and reset like a tool. Got a brilliant aura shiny to replace it and since found two other marked shinies (one a brilliant aura marked shiny), but I still miss my sociable shiny wooloo.

The only shiny Pokémon I've ever found have been when I've been specifically looking for them and using a method to increase the probability of finding one. Maybe I ran from a subtle shiny at some point if I wasn't looking at the screen during the sparkles, or perhaps in Gold/Crystal as I was still a pretty young kid when the gen 2 games came out, but I'd still say my shiny luck is really bad.
