>>43772151>Stat buffs/recalculations were in the same gen they introduced Mega Evolution, weren't they?Which makes the fact that Mega Evolutions were introduced in that generation even more evidence that they weren't created for balance. Even the stat buffs given out in Gen 6 (and arguably still to this day) did barely anything to make shitmons viable. Giving a shitmon a 10+ boost in some random stat most likely isn't gonna make them viable. Some Pokemon need whole reworks in terms of how their stats are distributed, in order for their stats to be of the standards of modern Pokemon introduced in Gen 4 and 5
>Mega Evolution wasn't always buffing already viable Pokémon as there were some interesting takes like Lopunny and PidgeotMy least hated Megas are the one's that offered the Pokemon unique utility, instead of just mostly being a flat 100+ BST buff. Even then, those Megas are still shit imo, just a little less shitty than something like Mega Medicham (just as an example)
>Also regional forms are just a way of GameFreak having their cake and eating it too without adding a new-new Pokémon entryRegional forms are based, and should stay in the games forever. As long as they're sidegrades to the original Pokemon, instead of acting as direct upgrades, they're a nice addition to the games. Regional forms should be sidegrades to the Pokemon, not buffs
