Berry Blender and poffin making games were quite fun desu and probably didn't take that much effort to implement either
The contests were a pretty good idea as well because they use already existing moves in a different manner and give the player to do something instead of battling

I'm like 95% sure they put the less experienced employees and/or interns to work on these kinds of things to sharpen their skills for when they eventually tackle bigger aspects. The Photo Club, Curry, badge polishing, lower screen apps, etc all seem like they're necessarily small-scale.

Curry is not only time-consuming, but also borderline useless. Poffins at least contribute to Pokemon Contest, and even if you don't feel like grinding out poffins, you can buy them to bypass it. You can't bypass Curry.

Poffin had sense, Curry doesn't have any. In the Poffins you actually put effort into making them, because it depends on how well you play the minigame, while in the curry it only depends on how many berries you put in.

The point is that Curry is like Super Training in XY where it's completely superflous when better ways to EV training existed, Poffins and Pokeblocks at least had a SPECIFIC function even if it's just for an optional side activity, and to the very least it wasn't advertised like one of the major features because the game is so empty they didn't had better things to show

it's easy to call it incomplete when platinum exists, but despite being a beta the game still had all of

The difference you are trying to hide is that Gen 4 games were at least complete in terms of minigames and postgame. Sure Gen 3 contests are still superior.
