This move only lasts for 5 turns. I get that guarding your stats is great, but it really feels disappointing. Especially since you could be actively killing the other pokemon. Same deal with Safeguard. Preventative status moves should generally have more impact, and moves like Hail should be more than just a way to wear down walls.

There's no way to modify the damage over time moves to make them serious threats that can compete with the sort of damage buff stacking sets the game tends to be filled with. You have to stack things like Poison spikes, hailstorm, and bind all at once, and at that point, you're just wasting turns. Poison isn't threatening enough on its own to use against anything except walls, and Bind/clamp mons are either trying to hold a weak mon in place in doubles, or find a way to take extra hits in singles.

Basically, how do you make the game passive enough for these roundabout methods of winning to be more viable than
