The leader is a stage magician, and they uses moves like Trick/Wonder/Magic Room, Trick/Switcheroo, the Swap/Split moves, and other general fuckery. If that's not enough then make it an inverse battle too.

A weather gym where the puzzle requires you to manipulate the weather to reach the leader. Depending on what weather is activated will determine his team. He'll always have an auto-weather mon and a Castform on his team. If no weather is active the original weather from when the battle started will just reactivate.
Also why the fuck doesn't Castform have a sandstorm form? Give him one already Gamefreak sheesh.

My Gym Leader runs a children's TV show teaching young kids about how to battle. The Gym challenger battles are aired with his commentary/breakdown recorded over them (among other segments about Pokemon care, team building, training, etc)

I figured a grass/water/fire type fits the idea of learning the basics, and who better to show it off than the starters - who would be most kids first Pokemon
I also tried to get starters with a variety of battling styles - Grovyle is agile and evasive, Wartortle is bulky and defensive, Braixen is a long ranged attacker.

Firefighter Gym Leader with Water-types, Psychic types and Fire-types.
Lore wise, Water-types would be useful to put down and control fires, Psychic-types would save people trapped in buildings with the help of Light Screens, Barriers and Teleport, Fire-types with Flash Fire would also protect both firefighters and victims from hazardous flames. Throw in some Fighting-types as strong free labor.

I think Water/Fighting makes the most sense. In-universe Psychics are pretty rare and most Psychic specialists have some psychic abilities themselves. I can't imagine a common profession like firefighting making heavy use of them.
