I found one /vp/! Finally! The 1% of the 1%! A level 9 Salamence! Now to catch in a beast ball for the ultimate flex. Then it will stay in Pokemon HOME forever at level 9.

Bagon and salamence are found on the first island, anon. You'd die if you came across a level 50 pseudo that early. Or have a ridiculously overpowered pokemon on your team if you manage to catch it.

Pokemon isn't as traditional an RPG as you seem to think, with a few games being more than willing to dump overpowered enemies onto you with impunity in random cases. See Mother 3's Sunshine Forest at the beginning of Chapter 4 for a "gateway" example that actually utilizes this.

Leveling up isnt really a cannon mechanic as I see it, it's a game balance thing. Not only is the existence of underleveled evolved mons perfectly fine, They should even change the level at which pokemon evolve every single generation to accommodate the level at which you catch them. Like, the evolution levels for unova mons makes sense considering the level you catch them at, but in all subsequent games they're in, it's usually way off. Even making a pokemon evolve at level 70 would be fine if it was only obtainable at around level 60

It should be a thing that no matter where you send it it will keep track of its "met at x level", but it should also specify "as Salamence" or "never evolved" or something. The fact that you would ruin it forever if you leveled it up triggers my autism to no end.

Nah, it's canon, just doesn't translate directly. Level, or rather experience, denotes how versed the pokemon is for fighting. It's not necessarliy how they evolve however, that is indeed a gameplay mechanic (dex states Bagon evolves through praying after all). So I'd say you could have these Bagons that just live their lives like regular animals, never seeing a fight, that could evolve. They would still grow stronger comparatively, but be lousy fighters at the end of the day.

I am a beast ball collector. It's my favorite ball. I've caught all possible gen 7 mons in beast balls and I have a good bit of gen 8 in beast balls too. Thats why I went beast ball on the Salamence.
