I've come around to liking him quite a bit. Hopefully the move tutors in the DLC will throw him a bone. How does /vp/ feel about the Sobble line now that so many months have gone by?

Simply the most cucked starter. Snipe shot on top of sniper and those stats are decent but compared to fursona Libero and the Gorillaz drummer it does not have the same kind of synergy. Gotta set up focus energy or laser focus, in the turn it takes to set up you could probably have put yourself in Torrent and had a guaranteed 50% bonus to scald or hydro pump versus maybe a chance to crit, admittedly one that hits hard.

Sobble had a lot of potential with the camouflage gimmick but not only did it not really go anywhere, it got two of the worst evolutions in the franchise

Do we have confirmation that Inteleon (and Drizzile) can't do Sobble's invisibility thing? I know the dex doesn't mention it but I don't see any reason for it to lose that ability as a spy chameleon/basilisk lizard.

It's pretty blatant he either can't do it anymore, or just GF flat out refuses to have him doing it, meaning it's wasted potential either way. Bad design in execution AND concept.

Sobble's whole line makes no sesne whatsoever evolution wise, and it's sad that Inteleon fanart makes it look not terrible like the official 3d render.

Eh, I think its line makes enough sense, in that I can believably imagine a certain type of person going through similar phases in life

It's funny what you say about Raboot and Drizzile both being sort of emo types, I kind of think they were planned on being the popular guys of this gen's starters and so are almost like counterparts, while Rillaboom was more of a phone-in.

I like all of the Galar starters. I enjoy how it incorporates lizard biology and works it all into being spy tricks. Makes for a neat design.

Overall I'd say Cinderace > Inteleon > Rillaboom but they're all good. Understand other anons dislike for profession-mons but these ones this gen have been creative enough that I don't mind.

In regards to its two brothers it definitely got the short end of the stick, but from a competitive standpoint it's still better than the majority of starters. Call me when gamefreak screws it over as badly as Samurott, Torterra, Typhlosion, Meganium, Delphox, Emboar, Sceptile, etc. in regards to stats/abilities/movepool.

Hell maybe Ash will get all 3 starters. Sobble first, then the other two. Raboot seemed to want to battle in episodes and doesn't care for Go's neglecting it in favor of the rest of his catches, maybe it'll join Ash instead and he'll get Grookey too later on.

What kills out for me is the presentation. OP's pic looks great, and so does every piece of fanart that gives inteleon shoulders, but in game it's always just standing still with that potbelly torso. All they had to do was give it shoulders and a dynamic pose...

Inteleon functions a lot better as a wall breaker than a traditional sweeper or cleaner. Run sub so you can safely set up on defensive mons, and since you're only running it to break them and not revenge kill, you can go modest for better rolls outside of rain and so air slash can 2hko pex. A lot of cinderace are running adamant since pult and zera outspeeds anyway, but staying in there is risky.

The problem I have with Sniper is that it relies on setup and/or luck to properly wallbreak. You just can't get to 100% crits without using Focus Energy. Specs Tinted Lens Hydro Pump hell, Surf works too here if you really hate missing cleanly 2HKOes that same Toxapex without needing Rain up or having to boost with Focus Energy, for example.

Well, if specifically toxapex is in on you, that's a free sub and focus energy. Plus, crit air slash's flinch rate on top of sub basically gives you the 1v1 regardless of whether or not you have rain. I'm not saying sniper is good, I'm just saying Inteleon isn't helpless like people are saying.

Wait, are you advocating a Sub/Focus Energy/Snipe Shot/Air Slash set with a crit boosting item? If so, why run Snipe Shot at all? Wouldn't Hydro Pump, Surf, or Scald be better in that spot, since Razor Claw + Focus Energy guarantees a Critical Hit on any move?
Also, that's still taking something like 5-6 turns to beat a Toxapex:
>set rain, presumably with Damp Rock Pelipper
>bring in Inteleon
>set up a Sub (seems optional, since Haze doesn't remove Focus Energy, but I can understand wanting to block status)
>use Focus Energy
>Snipe Shot
>Snipe Shot
And you get locked in for a calendar year if the Toxapex user decides to try and stall out your Rain turns with Recover. Whereas with Specs Tinted Lens, you'd be able to send in Inteleon against a Toxapex with no preamble and be done with the thing in two turns in most cases.

Because you can't get focus in a lot of scenarios. Im a bit skeptical of the damage output of non crit hydro, but that's just because I haven't ran any calcs yet, I'll look into it. Pex is completely helpless against substitute, it's just a matter of when it gets flinched. imo, a dead pex/free sub hit on whatever it regens from > delaying pelipper coming in for like 3 more turns. If you have focus, it can't stall you.

Where did I say I disliked that? I'm glad the Galar starters got the minmaxed stats, they'd be shitty monotypes like the Johto trio otherwise.

It fucking sucks. Critical hits since Gen 6 where nerfed and Sniper was nerfed even harder. Critics used to be double damage with Sniper being triple which made it an interesting and exploitable ability to have. Now Sniper is just double damage making it a really bad ability.
