>>43802930Part of the myth of Cynthia is that her party is particularly well equipped to handle the starters, Garchomp fucks up the box legendaries, and her team in general has longevity enough to outlast 1 or 2 pokemon, especially with partially depleted PP. Cynthia is basically just tailored to stomp Starter+Box legendary teams, and has the bulk, power, and coverage to stomp underlevelled Luxray and Staraptor as well.
Considering that like, 70% of kids went to the Elite 4 with Starter, Box Legend, Staraptor, Luxray, a random pokemon pulled from Victory road or Lucario, and either a second random pokemon or Bibarel, and Cynthia's team happens to eat those specific pokemon alive, and run over underlevelled trash with Garchomp specifically, it's easy to see where the troubles came from.
She's actually *A* challenge on top of that, so if your tried and true Infernape/Palkia core goes down, you can't really claw out a victory afterwards either.
