So I was thinking, what if there was a Pokémon game where you didn’t travel across a region but instead lived in a city cohabitated by various Pokémon and the focus was instead on the humans who lived there and you weren’t just some kid thrown into the world to “be the very best like no-one ever was”? Every Pokémon game, the humans have this bland stale personality about them, and when they try to give them personality it’s always one-sided and superficial. The short series Pokémon Generations (and I forget the other one) is extremely well made and the popularity online shows that there’s a big interest in the people over the Pokémon. Maybe I’m insane for saying this though. Every other rpg series you easily fall in love with or get attached to the characters. Pokémon games....meh they don’t really stick through the years. Anyone remember the name of your rival in DP in a snap? Nobody’d forget Barrett in FF7 though.
