Were there any other Pokémon you would've retyped during Gen 6? They don't all necessarily need to be Fairy type either. For me it's....

Ninetales - Fire/Ghost
Blissey - Normal/Fairy
Misdreavus - Ghost/Fairy
Mismagius - Ghost/Fairy
Cresselia - Fairy
Shelmet - Bug/Steel
Rufflet - Fighting/Flying
Braviary - Fighting/Flying

Not even, they rolled out a witch pokemon in Gen 6, with fairy and kept it psychic. Fairy goes on mostly monsters that are pre-LoTR fantasy-esc, Fairy tales, and the moomins. While psychic can be a literal psychic, it also hold more modern interpretations of magic systems.
