As an item it is honestly really overrated, a grand total of THREE Pokémon (the ones in the OP) managed to become truly relevant because of Eviolite, and even then Dusclops only in Doubles, in singles it languishes in the depth of PU.

Ah yeah Linoone with Eviolite would sure become a huge threat, it totally would stop running Gluttony+Belly Drum+Berry sets. And Farfetch'd would totally drop Stick for Eviolite. Now imagine Corsola and Mr. Mime. Truly the new Chanseys of our time. That sweet sweet 4x Grass weakness on a defensive mon. in gen 6/7/8 OU, sure, chansey outclasses blissey pretty handily. there are a few instances where blissey is still better though, namely gen 6/7 ubers when you'd want shed shell for mega gengar. Also gen V OU blissey was still fairly viable, as its offensive presence isn't limited to seismic toss, and it can cancel out perma-sand with leftovers
chansey is cancer though lmao. I can't wait to what stallbreaking sets people come up with to counter chansey/clef/corviknight core spam

Eviolite killed cross-gen evolutions because Hoenn Linoone and Johto Corsola couldn't use Eviolite before, and them suddenly being able to would be inconsistent.
That may sound autistic, but we're talking about the company that added incenses into the game to avoid inconsistencies with mons like Snorlax and Mantine being hatched fully grown in previous gens.

I wish they never did this. It's bad enough that for a lot of these mons, you have to obtain them by breeding, but the fact that you must use an item as well is just overkill. I think Baby Pokémon should be made available before their grown up counterparts in the games, and incenses should be removed because who the fuck gives a care about consistency with previous gens

Rhyperior is superior (unfortunately). The awesome Solid Rock and improved stats let Rhyperior close the gap between its own bulk and that of eviolite Rhydon while losing none of the flexibility. It can run Choice items, Leftovers, Assault Vest, etc while Rhydon must use eviolite to maintain defensive parity.
Sure would be nice if Game Freak would just give Solid Rock to the whole line. Its not like it can use any of its abilities.

You're assuming that GameFreak strives to be 100% consistent, and that's not what the anon is saying. He's saying that GF is hyper autistic about certain, unimportant details but they're willing to make defining changes to Pokemon like Gengar and Darkrai by nerfing them.
The likelier answer is earlier gens had a hyper autistic man on the staff like say...confirmed autist Satoshi Tajiri, and as he's withdrawn from everyday development the team has started to follow Masuda's brand of laziness.

Reminder that in the in-house tournament at Gamefreak before SwSh came out, all of the devs used Dynamax on babymons because it was cute and funny to see the big first stage mons dropping nukes on the tiny fully evolved mons.
I'm convinced that they made Eviolite for a similar reason and had no idea how much of a menace it would be.

I still dont understand why eviolite chansey is better than leftovers blissey. ok chansey is 255/5/105 bulk and blissey is 255/10/135 bulk. eviolite boosts both def stats by 50%. so a boosted chansey will be 255/7.5/157.5 so you actually have 2..5 LESS physical deff but a mere 22.5 extra special deff by choosing chansey.

also knock off counters eviolite harder than any other item.

This was also apparent when new babies were introduced - instead of pretending they were always there, they introduced incenses to explain why Wobbufett and Mantine could hatch from eggs before.

The only time gf ignored consistency was with Lickilicky and Mamosiwne, since Lickitung and Piloswine could always learn rollout and ancient power, respectively.

it multiplies all the stats you have invested as well. The 5 base defense gives you like 10 points, then you get another 94 from investment and IV's, so you have something like 100 going to 150 on chansey vs. a blissey having like 110.

Boosting the actual stat by 50% does not equal boosting the BST by 50%, in fact it's actually more. For example at 252+ Defense, Blissey has 130 defense, while Chansey has 119 Defense. Now if you give Chansey an eviolite, the Defense gets boosted to 178.5. Now does 178.5 defense sound like base 7.5 when base 10 is 130?

The Pokemon damage formula SUPER simplified is:
(user's attack stat * base power of move) / target's defense

Meaning any increase in defense is multiplicative damage reduction. A move that would deal 100 damage to a target with 100 defense would deal 33% less to a target with 150 defense. A 33% damage reduction is huge.

World building. Pokemon isn't just a game, it's a franchise. It's supposed to feel like these are real animals we've discovered in nature and these physical properties of them are physical constants. Honey Bees don't just randomly get extra speed to keep parity with African Bees that are taking over. A Dragonite in gen one has 80 base speed because that's just what Dragonites have. If power creep later renders a once relatively fast Pokemon too slow, well that's just too bad, Dragonite have 80 base speed.

Eviolite raises the actual stat, not the base stat.
Chansey’s real Defense is 119 (Bold, 252 EVs, 31 IVs), and Blissey’s is 130 (Bold, 252 EVs, 31 IVs).
You you have Eviolite, Chansey is given 178.5 (rounded down), which is about as much as base 31 Def.
Similarly, Chansey’s real SpD is 248 (Bold, 8 EVs, 31 IVs), which is 372 after Eviolite, putting it around base 167.

Sneasel is commonly mentioned, but it wouldn't see that much of rise as Life Orb Weavile actually outpunches it, and the speed loss compared to Weavile more than makes up for any health Weavile loses.
I adjusted HP and Def to be identical on both.

I was about to suggest Tangela but I remembered that its special movepool sucked compared to physical and Tangrowth's massive Attack boost allows it to retaliate where Tangela would just be a sitting duck.

Scyther would be worse than Scizor, but Offensive Eviolite would do a lot to move it up the tiers, poor thing was a C+ PU last gen.
