>>43822080I actually agree, and if you look at interview/blogs from Masuda at the time, you can clearly see he was incredibly excited for these games. It was the first time we were getting a worldwide release and in every video he was super giggly like a small child, like he couldn't contain himself. He even attempted to speak french! Compare that to SwSh's interviews where he's just sitting there, motionless, going "nai, hai, nai, wakaranai, hai, so desu, hai" without really engaging or caring, you can clearly see the spark was long gone.
XY had flaws, I'm not denying it, but I sometimes feel people exaggerate them and inflate them in order for them to appear far worse than they actually were. Flaws every gen had in their own ways. XY did so many things right, it had so many positive things going on for them, but this place insists on dismissing them and pretending they never happened, only to keep on parroting "XY bad!"
I stand by my opinion that XY were the last Pokemon games with genuine effort and care put into them despite their shortcomings, and looking at Masuda's attitude at the time is enough proof of this.
