Dark type is called the Evil Type in Japanese, which are the original versions of the game.
Light isn't necessarily the opposite of Evil.

Well bug and fighting type kinda fit that role, in Japan bugs are associated with heroes plus that what explains why bug defeats dark (evil).
Plus types don't have to cover every single conceivable type of element. We have Water and Ice type but why don't we have Water Vapor type?

Fighting is the "good" because it involves using brawn instead of cheap tricks. Something something justice prevails, cheaters never win, etc. Bug is where "good" comes into play because of sentai shows like Kamen Rider where the heroes have a bug motif.

Fighting and bug kinda cover that.
Fighting by being honorable, direct combat as opposed to the sneaky, dirty tricks that Dark types use.
Bug because bugs are associated with superheroes in Japan.
