>>43824019I'll copy-paste my honest review that I gave another anon, and why I think it's best to emulate instead of buying.
SwSh is a game that did so many things right, so many QoL changes that are greatly appreciated, but everything good about this game is covered by piles and piles of things done just awfully and/or lazily which makes you wonder why it was greenlit in the first place.
To start, I personally think the OST is an absolute banger, chill and nice music on towns, while battle themes get my feet dancing. The gym battles are genuinely the most fun I've ever had with gyms in my life, they're incredibly hype and didn't expect to like them so much. The exp share is surprisingly not broken and I've found myself always being at exactly the same level as my opponents, and having access to the boxes everywhere makes it easy to store away a Pokemon you don't want to benefit from it. The characters are all very interesting and really like how they actually have such unique personalities to them, specially the gym leaders. The game's environments look like complete garbage but the Pokemon and characters from up close, plus the battle effects do look really shiny and nice.
Like I said, the characters are great and unlike SM, while they do stop you from time to time I've found that it's NOWHERE near as often as SM. When they do it feels organic to the story and the only times I've felt annoyed was with Hop during the first three gyms iirc, later on he stops popping up as often. Funnily enough, my gripe is that since these characters were so appealing, it was such a damn shame the games did nothing more with them. For example, Marnie turned out to be a super sweet yet confident girl, I genuinely wanted to see more of her but unlike Lillie, she only showed up like 3 times. Bede too, a cocky asshole who is the way he is due to his past and yet it gets brushed aside.
Other problems is that this game is VERY short. Look, I'm a shitter when it comes to Pokemon.
