Yeah it's not that novel a concept, but it's on par with charizard's "give it flame wings" and blastoise's "give it more guns".

What makes me more mad is that the original Venusaur has extremely detailed ferns that Sugimori complained about having to draw, then Mega Venusaur's head flower looks basically like a paper flower with no definition or detailed linework at all. It really exemplifies the change in art style over the years, maybe Squirtle -> Chewtle is a better example tho
