Cyndaquil is the best fire type you’ll find for a big chunk of the game but totodile can solo the dragon gym and a good chunk of the E4 and Lance

Cyndaquil is without a shadow of a doubt the BEST first stage of any strter in the entire series so it wins this round i think.
Totodile and Chikorita are pretty good though

Cyndaquil is an excellent combination of cute/precious and cool. Cute plushiness combined with sharply-drawn flames works perfectly, and he looks totally unique.

Chikorita is all the way cute/precious. Really gives that "purity of the forest" kind of vibe/aesthetic.

Totodile is always portrayed as a scrappy/rowdy little guy, I'd like to see him drawn more elegantly.
