Thoughts on the Hatterene and Grimmsnarl lines? I think these are the best non-legendary Fairy types yet.

I tend to separate non legends and legends if we judge by design, so I think Xerneas, the Tapus, and Zacian should be judged on their own.

I hate the Hatt line and don't particularly care for the Grimmsnarl line, though I don't think Grimmsnarl is a bad design in any way

They're definitely two of the best lines. Klefki, Ribombee, Whimsicott, and Alolan Ninetales would be my other top picks.

I wish they'd design more monstrous Fairies like Grimmsnarl going forward. A Fighting/Fairy minotaur would be cool.

I think they're exemplary of what the Fairy type should encompass, that being interesting non cute pink ball designs based on folklore and actual fae creatures.

Grimmsnarl is my favorite Gen 8 Pokemon. Dark/Fairy was a dual type combination I was really looking forward to design wise, and IMO Grimmsnarl nailed it.

They're alright. I like Impidimp's line for its take on Ogres, something we didn't really have represented before unless you count Drapion. Impidimp is still the most Yokai Watch-looking thing I've ever seen, though.

Hatterene I have a problem with, though- the hat design does nothing. It's focused on in all 3 evos english names and foreign names incorporate "brim" like the brim of a hat, but Hatterene is all about manipulating hair and responding to emotions. Her hat doesn't do any of that. The most use the hat sees is beating up emotional people as Hattrem, if you could even call the nubs it uses part of the hat. What were they trying to convey with this naming scheme?

hatterene line is dogshit, pastel colors look god awful, especially considering the models are just geometric shapes stacked on top of each other. both lines’ gmaxes are the same uninspired design: “mon stays the same size while piloting a hat/hair mech”
also waifubait mons need to die. utterly horrible and i avoid at all costs
