also spiky shield requires barbs and sacred sword requires some sort of magical power. it’s a special move so it would be wasted on sirfetchd

Not competitive, but thematic reasons. Also helps to have a strong reliable stab move for playthrough.

This seems like a proper thread to ask this: how come so many new Pokemon have an exclusive move? Back then only legendaries and some exceptions like Volcarona had them, but now everyone has a move specially for them.
