You sure you know what you are talking about? gen 6 uses the flat exp formula. this means every pokemon in your team gain the same amount of exp. This would mean your powerful mon is just going to keep getting overlevel while your new pokemon will always be underlevel. Gen 7 uses the scaled exp introduced in gen 5. This would mean your newer weaker mon will actually gain more exp compared to your already overlevel mons on your team thus their level gap will be reduced.
