Gen 7 uses plants and land formations that make sense for a Hawaiin-based area, while gen 8 doesn't have as much of that. Having some knowledge on flora when developing a world can make it more realistic when you do play it, you can't just pick random bushes and trees and call it a day.
Also, the variety of colors that gen 7 uses is much more than gen 8. Gen 7 is vibrant and uses different shades of green for lots of plants, while gen 8 is this constantly pale color palette where there's very little change. Fuck, even looking at the OP image the trees and the grass are practically the same color
