The gameplay is better and more engaging, the characters have a wide array of personalities, from competitive to hard worker, from resentful to kind, etc. and aren't just "HAHA ALOLA :DD", the music is better, the format is better, has QoL additions that vastly improve the base experience, has less interruptions and those that exist flow more organically within the story, and finally, it's actually fun. The game as shit as it may be is actually genuinely very fun and charming.
I'm not saying SwSh is good, it's actually an insanely flawed piece of shit game, but those things that did well, it did them far better than SM.
