Come to think of it, Mortal Kombat takes heavy inspiration from the american kung fu craze, and breakout stars from that era like bruce lee and jackie chan(circling back around to the things that have also inspired pokemon) each practice a laundry list of styles, which again, I don't believe is actually all that uncommon martial arts
