>>43845396There was a thread a few weeks back that discussed how most of the pokemon were inspired by the UK region and history.
I'll post the list from there:
Fox hunting is pretty famous, so nickit and thievul
The meme about welsh people being sheep fuckers is prevalent, so wooloo and dubwool
yamper and boltund, the queen corgi, and the hound has many links to british shit (hounds of the baskervilles sherlock holmes shit)
corviknight like you said, and the rookidee corviSQUIRE.
Blipbug may be a reference to computing, we had turing and berners-lee in the UK
Sinistea, cause britfags love tea
sir fetchd
mr rime
milcery and alcremie, like some typical posh british dining
probably runerigus being a reference to some shit i don't know enough about
falinks maybe a reference to the military tactic phalanx, UK had some roman influence for a while
stonjourner is obviously stone henge
Indeedee is a play on some british stereotype
Cufant and copperajah from when britain ruled india
zacian and zamazenta, the knight shit again
Wouldn't be surprised if kubfu and urshifu were references to the times britain had control over hong kong and parts of china.
Cinderace and soccer
Inteleon and james bond
Rillaboom and possibly tarzan
Maybe the pokemon are repetitive, but that's what happens when you get inspiration from real life, you get tonnes of fish, birds, rodents, primates, lizards, turtles, insects, felines, canines, etc
