At most I can only come up with two but those really aren't enough reasons to purchase the game.
Emulate it if you're bored one day and literally have nothing else to do, I guess. Even I haven't done that yet.

new pokemon is fun if you actually like pokemon;
if you play competitive it seems to be pretty highly regarded as a nice new meta play style;
possibly one of the last few gens that will have a physical release so long term investment for resale/collectors item;
there is a high chance you are in the percentage of players that has gen 8 as one of their favorites if the first reason applies;

great story, great characters, UI is beautiful, animated sprites, HAs, a lot of QoL improvements

Megas and that's it. it's garbage
>Gen7
Alola is comfy and fun to explore, challenging, post-game stuff, best bad guys team and overall nice story.
Didn't play USUM though so idk if it's better or worse.

Both look fucking awful.
The story is hot garbage and the characters forgettable. I can't even remember a single gym leader besides the big nigress.

wrong, alola had plenty of side locations like mele mele sea, hau'oli cemetery, ten carat hill, kala'e bay, haina desert, hano beach, blush mountain, and some areas you could backtrack too to get items via ride mons like the place where you get the thief TM in verdant cave or the pathway in lush jungle that leads to the energy ball TM

It is an HD game. It is a new gen with fun new pokemon. It has waifus. Breeding is as easy as its ever been. The lack of mega and Z crystal brings back the feel of gen 5 battling. Zacian is the goodest girl. DLC is an interesting idea and can prolong the games longevity. Waifus.
