Crystal is the only one with really good animations.
Emerald + Gen 4 animations are mediocre but you only see them when a Pokémon is sent out.
Gen 5 animations are even worse because of the excessive tweening used and you must look at them constantly

Anyways, I find them pretty cool. Though, I think they could use a better style of cell shading, something like the Dragon Ball games.
I think cell shading is the best way of portraying anime/cartoon characters in 3d games.
