What is the point of this question in the Pokemon world? Would someone who doesn't like pokemon be the equivalent of Amish?

I assume it's more like asking if you like pets or not. There are definitely people in the real world who don't, and I assume it's the same in the pokemon world.

This. In the Pokémon world, it's like EVERYTHING revolves around Pokémon. They have Pokémon battles, have Pokémon as pets, hire Pokémon as workers, make statues of Pokémon, have Pokécenters and Pokémarts in every cities, contests, safari, pokéathlon, battle frontier, etc. Pretty much every activity involves Pokémon in some way.
We have animals in real life but our lives don't revolve around them.
It's not just a Pokémon thing though, plenty of anime for children do that, like Yugioh where EVERYTHING revolves around a card game.

It makes more sense in the pokemon universe I guess. Civilization in this world more or less formed around peoples creativity/ingenuity + pokemon's abilities.
