>>43858105For the most part, yes. Galar is a corridor, you straight shot to your destination without much to do on the way. They add winding paths and trainers to slow you down and give the illusion of depth but really you're not doing anything other than walk, fight trainer, keep walking, get to gym, cutscene with Hop and maybe Marnie, gym battle, cutscene with hop, rinse repeat. There are a few exceptions to this but it's not enough.
There are no fun minigames or things to do on the side other than make curry and throw a ball at your pokemon. The gyms have minigames before the leader like past games but they're tedious and not very fun or complex. The gym leaders are moderately challenging at first depending which pokemon you have but midway through all challenge is gone and it really kills the impact that a lot of cool moments are supposed to have.
The characters aren't really interesting either.
Dynamaxing is a shit mechanic. Especially because Gym Leaders will dynamax their last pokemom every time, without exception, so you know it's coming.
The music wasn't bad though.
