Speed getting split would be so dumb. Why not have a physical HP and a special HP?
If there's ever an extra stat, it should be a luck stat that affects the likelyhood of making and avoiding critical hits. Meowth and Persian being high-luck mons would be peak soul.

If you're using a physical move it uses the physical speed. If you're using a special move it uses the special speed. Then it compares with enemy's speed (depending on what type of move he's doing).
So say I use a physical move, and my oppoment use a special move. Then the game compares my physical speed with my opponent's special speed to decide who goes first.

It wouldnt, instead it would be viable to add 2 new stats, 1 for phys att accuracy and 1 for spA accuracy, going the fasteristist: the stat is probably as dumb as it gets no offense
