I use one to help me hatch eggs faster so he is okay in my book. I also run a meme team with his evolution gigantimax with steam engine / weakness policy which is fun in casual battles occasionally.

There is no reason to do that when Coalossal has much higher base HP and is pretty much as bulky as Carkol with Eviolite.

I absolutely can and will because it’s objectively better in every way to Coaloss.
It should have had an evolution based on a rollercoaster car with a g-max that gives it a single loop-de-loop which functions as a massive wheel as well as a rail.
Losing the wheels was a mistake.
