So I'm near the endgsme lf Prism and I have had a lot of fun.
Is there something similar out there? In terms of romhack quality.

I mean there is Pokemon Polished Crystal, which is basically a self explanation. It has HGSS elements and even has natures and the Phy/Spec split. It's a pretty nice hack.

seems like an unnecessary addition to the game that doesn't make it better and obviously will turn people off from it

there are 20 gyms in this hack. and the E4 and secret final bosses.
They needed more types.

it's all arbitrary to begin with
somebody just decided they want to add new types despite it not improving the game and alienating potential players
maybe this is what they wanted

and I explained that you can ignore those types. I've played a lot and barely know the new type chart.

the fact that they included this change but it doesn't seem to impact the game is very weird and I frankly don't trust the devs with design

It would be nice if it didn't remove Johto Pokémon to make room for non-Johto Pokémon.
How the fuck does someone go out of their way to make a Crystal hack and then do that? I think some people are too obsessed with modernizing old games no matter the cost. Natures aren't even necessary at all.

I always turn natures off
the wonderful thing about polished crystal is that it let's you pick and choose which modern features you want to play with

johto's level curve is also seriously improved as a result, and the new areas make the mid game much better
I don't see any problem with omastar, red has always used stationary or gift mons

But you can fix the level curve without making it linear. It doesn't have to be something like Crystal Clear.
And one of the points of Red is to have all 4 gen I starters. Red is the only one I remember right now, there's is a lot of stupid team changes.
As for the new areas, those are indeed nice.

The problem of Johto's level curve is between gyms 5 to 7, where you could take them in any order.
I stop working on my hack ( I will return), but I was doing through events, for example, after you beat Chuck, it will lock weak trainers near Mahogany and unlock strong ones. But I don't think that's how CC made, I think ShockSlayer made something like the National Park being a regular route and the Bug Catching Contest, unlocking different areas according to what you do.

The new types are annoying, but they are so rare they migh not be there. In Prism we have Gas, Sound and Fairy. And ik total is like 8 Pokemon ir so.
Seriously I think the only sound Pokemon I have found is the Wishmur line.

Does Polished Crystal have abilities? I know it has natures, which I feel like is the worse option between the two.
