I'm almost done with that playthrough of Emerald now. Not a speedrun, and these are ~98% completionist runs so I'll be doing some stuff with the battle tower.
I fell in love with the first two generations all over again and Emerald might have honestly just dethroned them again. I like how the gym battle teams have actual thought in them and use strategies. Even Wally caught me off guard since most of my party was weak to Psychic. The bad part is that this really ruined any positive opinion I still held about ORAS since I can play Emerald without it feeling too archaic and the game is 15 years old.
I'm right before the league, I'm going to train for a bit, maybe catch the Regis first, become Champion and then do the rest of the postgame. Soundtrack is great, I didn't find the water routes nearly as bad as I did as a kid, but I know how to plan through them better now.
