Not defending this practice but I'd like to present /vp/ with this new moral conundrum:
Suppose player A (you), purchased the wrong DLC. You're quite miffed but you demand to play the DLC no matter what. You are faced with two decisions:
A) Buy the correct DLC for an extra 30 GBP. Bothersome, yes, but you would be able to play it immediately.
B)Buy the correct game for the wrong DLC. Bothersome, yes, but you would be able to relive the exciting story and gym challenge before experiencing the new content for a refresher.
Which would you choose?

Indeed. We also deserve a retcon in the base game to explain how Eternatus is a reference to nuclear radiation and how Rose's plan to abuse its power was purely for profit alone.

Wait, what does this mean? I haven't been keeping up with the games. Is the Isle of Armor exclusive to one version of the game (I assume Shield)? Or are they letting you buy the Tundra DLC even though it doesn't even have a release date?

There is a "Shield Expansion Pass" and a "Sword Expansion Pass"
the Shield pass only works with the Shield version, likewise with the Swords
if you buy the Sword Expansion Pass and only have Pokemon Shield, it does literally nothing

They simply could have put a warning before buying that "you need pokemon sword (or shield) to use this content, but you don't own it! are you sure?" but obviously, they didn't to score more stolen money. The thumbnail says which version you're buying for and the DLC's description has it written in all caps to double check which DLC you're buying. You'd have to be a literal retard like >>43885881 with zero reading comprehension to fuck it up.
Granted, the whole thing could have been avoided by releasing a single DLC pack with a flag that lets you choose which game you're buying it for.

By making two versions in the first place. Unless it's a concrete impossibility for the Switch to be able to detect each version and apply the right content, at which point the blame is fully on Nintendo and the customers, there was no reason for the DLC to be split into different passes beyond "tradition" and cash-grabbing.
