Gen 4 definitely felt like the peak of the overall hype. Pokemon was more niche since pokemania ended but the fans that were still there were Reveling in the quality at the time, made actually news of a new game feel fucking amazing. HGSS's release coming off of platinum's quality made me feel so fucking excited, and the games did not disappoint
