Steel is a fundamental trait of the sun, fire is something that happened to the sun. Its hardly the intuitive typing, but it makes does make sense. And thats even just basic observation. SuMo legendaries are pretty blatantly more based in alchemy, and there are no real ties between the sun and fire in traditional alchemy, but many between the sun and metal.
