10 times better than gen 7, no z-moves sucks but let's be real, the limited dex means that the shit that used to check Magerna is MIA so those setup sweeper sets (CM, Shift Gear, Trick Room, you name them) are going to terrorize people

Arena trap is banned (and even if Dugtrio was around, good luck with trick room mag) and Magnezone never did anything to Magearna (compared to skarm and scizor) because it actually has special defense and can send Magnezone to the next dimension in a single focus blast

AV is still going to be good pivot that annoys most special attackers that aren't fire types.
Calm Mind + Pain Split fucks Chansey.
Leftovers Heart Swap could be interesting with all the setup spam.
Shift Gear BoltBeam could work since there aren't many good ice resists.

I fucking Soul-Heart, even in singles. So infuriating you can't even sack a Pokemon to hazards to prevent a boost. Also something that hasn't been mentioned ITT is that it gets Stored Power now so CM sets can potentially muscle past anything even without Z-moves.

It even gives you a boost if your teammate faints. It doesn't matter what happens or what Pokemon it is, as long as Magearna is on the field and something faints it automatically gets a special attack boost.

Well it didn't get banned in gen 7 and that was with Z-moves. Though it probably deserved a suspect test at least.

Without them it will probably have a harder time breaking some stuff though its defensive set should be as good as ever. Stored Power is an option too now in combination with CM.
