The "fix" for HMs was to remove any sort of exploration dependent on your team and to simplify the map design in future games. This is not a fix, but a downgrade. Do the zoomers that complain about HMs really prefer there being nothing to see or do on your own? HMs could've used a complete overhaul, absolutely, but the cost for not even addressing what HMs gave us is far too great.
