It is reverse Kalos.
Kalos has probably some of the best overworld OST in the series, but its battle themes are pretty mediocre (aside from the trainer theme and wild battle theme).
Galar has some of the best battle themes in the games, but it has terrible overworld music aside from a few towns.

I don’t remember a single track from those games, anon. I’m a casual listener to music, so I can’t tell you anything objectively. I just prefer catchy tunes that are easy to remember without listening intently as opposed to some of the more complicated compositions that fail to make an impression on me while I’m playing the game.

Gen IV's music was a noticable downgrade from Gens 1-3. The only thing it had going for it was the more advanced hardware, but it didn't even make good use of the DS's capabilities.

Pokemon always had good musics and ost even if games like XY don't have many good battle music it still has good towns and routes ost.Galar is the contrary : good battle themes but the towns and routes themes are not really that memeorable.

Overall Sword/Shield's OST is not as good as other gens, but there's still a handful of really good tracks, like Hop's final theme and Slumbering Weald.
DLC also gave us Mustard's theme which is funky as all hell
