>>43925596I'm going to agree with you and not the other two posters- XY was the beginning of a specific decline for the series where each game after the other had significant features cut. Issues with Gens 3-5 aside. This kept going in ORAS, SM, USUM, LGPE, where they kept pushing the boundary a little more each time, before getting to the absolute worst at launch of SWSH where we saw that the dex was only a measly 400 with around 40 additional mons that were transfer only.
We hit our low point there, they realized they went too far, and extra effort was put in to the (already planned) DLC. It's not unreasonable to think that this time will be when things change because we've already seen significant change in content just from wave 1.
Even graphically, look how far we've gone. Three years ago we were on the 3DS in a fully modeled yet pixelated overworld, the year after that they went to console but back to chibi, last year we got the SWSH engine and not even a year later they've proven that they can do a lot more with wild areas, exploration and feature wise. It's possible they might even do light level scaling in the future.
The only thing to do now with the engine is to fix the textures and add more life to the overworld so it doesn't look like PS2 or earlier but that's to be expected after they stalled on handheld for 20 years. I hope they don't listen to the retards that don't think the base engine is enough, and they try to rebuild everything AGAIN and end up with another empty game.
