>>43927629Gen III overall, but Gen VI for the games
I feel like the incredible hype and mania of Pokemon died down after Gen II but the games were still doing alright
Gen III felt a bit divisive because it felt very disconnected from the past games in terms of region and gameplay (with how reworked a lot of the mechanics became) but they had a new foundation to build upon, and they did
Gen IV was better, despite it's Slow Start so to speak, with the Phys/Spec split being great
And Gen V was the peak, refining upon everything up to that point
Then in Gen VI they introduced a completely new elemental type and a new type of Pokemon completely that only a few dozen had access to, and that's when Kanto pandering was in extreme, full force
It was always present to some extent but Gen VI was when it was at its most blatant with the Kanto starter Megas, with two Charizards and two Mewtwos just because, the Kanto starters being straight up available
Then Gen VII continued to suck Kanto's dick with a lot of things in Alola referencing Kanto, having a straight up Kantonian Gym, Kukui referencing Kanto, wanting to build a League like Kanto, and also having Red and Green themselves show up as challengers, although I did like their cameo
Also the Let's Go games still technically count as part of Gen VII and those are straight up Kanto remakes (again)
Now you have Gen VIII with the Kanto starters yet again just fucking because, and now they all have new forms here too
And the Champion being a super Charizard shill and how he's seemingly invincible
This isn't Pokemon
It's Kantokemon
