Did you take a moment to appreciate her battle start animation, where she's poking the ball? The way she has that wide fake smile plastered on her face, but you know she's pissed because when she presses her finger on the ball the last phalanx of her index bends upward in the way it does when you're pressing something hard and there's this slight trembling. I don't know, it struck me as having a lot more SOUL than most animations I've seen in this installment.
Avery just seems to fall a bit more flat. Really, even if he's objectively not as well executed, it's probably because the artists themselves are a bunch of coomers who'd rather be working on Klara.
