I miss the water colors Pokemon, it has its own unique flair to it. The current one style may be more presentable, but it feels more generic.

Look more consistent with the current model. Then ORAS was lazy and only gave new artwork to the starters and Fug, so now Hoenn looks like the odd one out in terms of art.

The old artwork isn't in high resolution. All the hi res old artwork were fan made.

AFAIK they were redrawn/modernized for their respective remakes. They just got lazy for ORAS.

The current standard was set between Gens 5 and 6 imo. But yeah, they aren't as noticeably old as the originals for Gen 1-2, but you can tell they aren't 100% digital like the current artworks.
